Etra Nova X Pixels
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
AN INTERACTIVE WALL FOR OPEN SPACES
On the occasion of the 10th International Biennial of Design in Saint Etienne, on the theme of “the mutation of work” I developed Pixels.
My intention was to rely on well-being at the office. I focused my research on the stress caused by work, which can result on anxiety and a lack of efficiency and rigor. Following my research, I found that a stressed person can quickly depersonalize and lose contact with herself.
I was interested in natural treatment methods against stress, such as Yoga, chromotherapies, meditation, etc. For the final product, i was inspired by the idea of pixels that are daily present with the new technologies. I diverted these squares, that stupefy and stress us in a daily basis and propose a more playful and creative version.
In the evolution of workspaces, open spaces have been introduced as shared spaces without barriers, ironically these spaces have also become a factor of stress because of the lack of privacy. I then propose PIXELS an interactive wall that will serve to divide open spaces.
PIXELS offer the opportunity to get out of the stressful routine at work and "play" freely. It can be done individually or interacting with another person. At the moment of touching the pixel, the opacity changes and with a double click the color changes as well.
The colors colors used, are related to nature but also related to chromotherapy (color therapies).
